When you Google Trenton news most of what you see is stories of murder, shootings, and drugs. Pix 11 News just did a report on a “kindergartener bringing 30 packets of heroin to a school in Trenton”. This really gives Trenton a bad name. With all the news only bringing up the negatives no one knows about how Trenton residents and others are trying to change.

I have driven around the area of Trenton myself and have seen many empty broken down houses and buildings that have been closed for years. Trenton is also known as a food dessert. Meaning there is not many grocery stores close by, which makes the residents resort to fast food restaurants. These issues have been going on for years but fortunately they are getting help to rebuild. Education is important for residents of Trenton to strive so they can fix their homes. Amazon recently gifted Trenton with $10,000 in supplies for Trenton teachers. Chris Christie also recently had old unused buildings demolished for a new area to be made.

A large issue is the amount of vacant homes that they have within the area. The city lacks the money to rebuild these areas themselves so they sell and auction these vacant homes using a vacant home database. The requirement for the buyers is that they have to renovate the home and live there for a certain time. With enough buyers this might help bring the amount of vacant homes down and even help update the outdated homes around the Trenton area.
