Stop the Insanity

Like many of you across the face of this nation, I am sickened by the anarchy that is going on in this country. I believe that all people are created equal and that everyone in the United States should be protected from harm. I believe that the majority of policemen and policewomen want to serve and protect and it just takes some clowns like the 4 cops in Minneapolis to taint the image of others.
As an 18-year-old young man, I first witnessed racism at it’s worse. I had joined the Air Force and my first duty station was in Selma, Alabama. In March of 1965, Martin Luther King marched with 600 followers from Montgomery, Alabama to Selma, Alabama which was 54 miles away to bring attention to black people’s lack of Civil Rights. I lived in Selma, Alabama in 1968 and learned what true prejudice was. I was appalled. Now, here we are 55 years later and we are still questioning if we have made any progress.
The murder of George Floyd was a complete tragedy and I believe all four of the police officers need to be charged. I believe in the right to protest but what I do not understand or condone is the looting, the violence, and the targeting of the police in this nation. People want protection and then they attack the law enforcement official in cities across the nation? Makes not one bit of sense. Yesterday, the mayor of Los Angeles wants to take $150 million away from the police department and give it to the Black Community. Are you kidding me? Do you watch what is going on in LA right now? The police department here needs all of these funds to protect the citizens of LA.
Believe it or not, there is more. The California Immigrant Resilience Fund aims to raise $50 million as an initial goal to support local and regional funds that provide direct relief to undocumented immigrants and their families. In addition, California Governor Gavin Newsom announced that the state is committing $75 million to a separate fund to support the relief effort.
Are you kidding me? What fantasy land do these politicians live on? They offer up crap like this with no real plan on how to handle what is going on now. Then we have Mayor Bill de Blasio from New York City telling the cops to back down and let the citizens of New York solve these problems. Are these the same citizens that looted and ransacked Macy and Saks Fifth Avenue while they drove away in a $300,00 Rolls Royce?
All citizens in this nation need to come together for the good of this nation. Right now we have us against them mentality and it will accomplish nothing except drive us further apart. The state of the nation saddens me right now and we need to all come together as people. This is not a political debate but should be a common-sense solution. Let’s hash-out any differences we have amongst us and live as one nation under God!
