Inspiration comes from the depth of your being. Something is inspiring when it touches and awakens that depth. The process of the mind touching into the depth is called “transcending.” The mind has a natural tendency to transcend, to go to the depth of one’s being, which means to go to the source of intelligence, wisdom, knowledge, insight, and fullness of one’s heart. Everybody transcends here and there for a brief instant throughout the day. When something touches your heart deeply and profoundly, for a brief moment, you transcend. In these moments, you are inspired. It can happen through music, intellectual pursuit, communion with another, or even the brief moment of delight when dazzled by a magician’s trick.

The most precious meditation techniques provide a systematic approach for people to transcend — not in a random instant, but throughout the entire period of the meditation. Through continued practice of this type of meditation, the Transcendental state more and more fully permeates the normal, waking consciousness. As a result, the meditator becomes more fulfilled, bright, intelligent, wise, and inspired.

Great occurrences throughout history are times of great inspiration. During these times, people act in harmony with the depth of their soul, the Transcendental level of life. For example, many scholars speak of the exquisite beauty and genius inherent in the Constitution of the United States. They speak of the Founding Fathers as inspired individuals who brought forth a document of great wisdom, understanding, and knowledge.

In fact, the birth of all great nations must have had, at their inception, inspired individuals. Without such inspiration, the Transcendental state, the impetus (sometimes referred to as the divine spark) would not have been present. This impetus, with its strength and fortitude, is needed to birth such great nations.

Similarly, that which inspires an artist to create exquisite art, music, or other creative pursuits comes from that same source of inspiration which dwells deep within the artist.

As the ancient Seers have said, there is one, underlying divine source. Every individual approaches and is inspired by that source in accord with their individual, unique nature. Some are artists, scientists, adventurers, teachers, business people, etc. In other words, the source of genius and inspiration comes from deep within the individual. It is then brought forth and shared with the world as the unique gift of that individual.

Human beings are such marvelous creatures. Their awareness has evolved to the point that they are capable of traversing the full range of existence: from the most superficial physical level through the emotional and psychological levels, all the way to the depth of the underlying source of infinite intelligence, wisdom, creativity, and harmony that birthed this entire universe. Being able to access such depth is simply a matter of removing whatever stresses, strains, or distortions might cloud one’s relationship with their own true nature. To live that level of life is to live every moment in divine inspiration. It is referred to in many ways. Some call it sheer genius; others call it integrated and balanced. Some may even refer to it as ‘living a blessed life’ or ‘walking with God’.

A fulfilling life is a life based upon inspiration. No matter what you are currently doing, there is some aspect of your day that you are inspired by. You’re drawn toward it, you love it, and believe in it. It could be something as simple as enjoying other people. Whatever it is, follow your inspiration. Allow it to be the guiding force of your life. As you do, you will become more and more inspired. Your life will blossom. Then, one morning when you awaken, you will realize that you love what you’re doing — you are living an inspired life.
