Real witches want nothing to do with this.

Not everyone accepts the “threefold law,” which was basically made-up along with the rest of contemporary witchcraft in the 20th century. The witches I know ground their practices in folk traditions that stretch back into antiquity, and those traditions most assuredly contain cursing and binding. But to each his or her own—feel free to abstain.

And the original group that birthed this ritual, from what I can tell, are not witches, but ceremonial magicians. There’s room for everyone to play according to their own beliefs or traditions.
