The second point is more complicated than that. It’s not just that you wrote an entry to the blockchain it’s that the entry, and whatever it might represent via cryptographic hashing, is immutable and easily verifiable.
I agree that this point shouldn’t be mystified, but it’s more than just an entry in a public database.
