The iPad Pro is the Computer I’ve Forgotten About
My favorite tablet is my least used Apple product.
It’s not that it’s not a great device. It is. It’s not that I don’t like it. I do. But my iPad Pro, more often than not, sits unused and neglected despite all it can do.
Apple, of course, would have us believe that the iPad — especially the iPad Pro — is a computer in its own right, and perhaps that’s true, despite my protest to the contrary.
But even so, it’s quickly become the computer I’ve forgotten. It just doesn’t have the same place in my tech stack that it once did.
What the iPad brings to the table
Tablets have always held a special place in my heart as one of the most Star Trek inspired forms of computing. Who can forget the PADD portable computing devices toted about by members of the Enterprise, after all?
A portable touch screen with all the apps and services I could want at a moment’s notice. That’s a geek’s dream come true.
The iPad isn’t alone in the tablet market, of course, but it’s the whole package in terms of style, compatibility and features. Samsung, Lenovo, LG, Xiaomi, Huawei and others have their offerings of course. But Apple’s overall package is the gold standard.
