There’s Only One Way To Achieve Your Goals

Source

You must love the process.

It’s the only way that you’ll be able to stay consistent when trying to reach your goals.

One of my favorite entrepreneurs Gary Vaynerchuk drills the idea of loving the process into his viewer’s head every day. Most people don’t want to work 18 hours, they would be miserable.

Gary loves it, which is why he outworks you.

I’ve tried a lot of things.

I’ve set many goals.

I’ve failed to do most of them consistently because I loved the idea and not the process.

Once upon a time..

When I was entering college, my father was living in Dubai. He frequently stayed in the Burj Khalifa, the worlds tallest building. I never even heard of the city. He told me about the architecture and I was immediately blown away by what I was seeing in pictures.

Unsure of my future, I decided that I was one day going to design and build the tallest and most interesting building in the world. I enrolled in a bunch of classes like introduction to architecture, drawing, CADD, and more.

There was a problem.

I didn’t like drawing

I didn’t like building 3D models

I was bored by the history of architecture.

I would doodle on my phone or laptop until the class was over.

I clearly didn’t enjoy the grind of becoming an architect. I quickly switched majors.

Just because you have an off day doesn’t mean you now hate the process. A question I like to ask myself is: “Does the daily grind fill me with energy, or does it drain me?” If it fills me with energy, then I know i’ll get through the tough days. If I feel drained, it might be time to go back to the drawing board.

Going back to the drawing board is an achievement in itself, it means you tried something and it didn’t work.

How do you work towards your goals? I’d love to know! As always, let me know what you liked (or didn’t) in the comments below.
