We can never count on bad things (not saying Facebook is only bad, just its downsides are too big) going away by themselves. It will surely not be here forever, since there will always be something to replace it. But its us who have to make sure what replaces it is better.

Since most of us like the idea of an online social network, we can start using one (or create one) with much less adverse effects on our lives and society.
