the feeling inside ceased external action

the feeling inside ceased external action

it was subtle

sneaky

nefarious

concealing its existence as emotion
promoting itself to be a globule of sensations representing ‘body need move’

the feeling held no ‘wait til dawn to decide’ extravagance

but circumstance caused waiting to be the only available response

heavy eyes slowly met with sunlight

sleepy-dull was the dominant body sensation

except for one region

the region where the feeling-ceasing-action lived

still subtle in nature
the contrast made it clear
this feeling was …
out of time

it did not belong here
it had no business altering the present

two days ago the ring had disappeared
checking ‘round the car I had just washed
checking down the garbage disposal
checking the hair catcher in the drain
it seemed to have gone on vacation without a kind note of explain

I’ve had important rings leave my life before
I knew emotional angst did not cause the find
nor did carrying on with my life cause the loss to remain

when rings go on vacation
they come back in their own time
in their own way

when rings disappear forever
they are succinctly gone forever

as I watched the subtle-emotion-out-of-time I could detect its cognitive dissonance

ah ha!

the dissonance was creating the inaction

the emotion was simply emoting

as the dissonance faded to resonance

the feeling changed form

the body itself was compelled to act

springing to life with “do this and then that”

and then it was done

effortless action

smooth to completion

yay! time to move into the day!

as I fluffed out the pillows from a good night’s flattening

the light caught my eye

there

standing upright

… on a mattress?

was the ring
