What is Kahoot?

Kahoot is an online multiple-choice game that allows teacher, students, working individuals etc. to use the platform. For example, professors at a university could create in-class practice questions for everyone to participate with Kahoot. In order to complete a quiz on Kahoot, the quiz creator must share the Kahoot code for quiz-takers to join the quiz session. Kahoot can be used on either a computer or mobile devices such as a mobile phone or tablet.

Creation of a Kahoot Quiz

Before creating a Kahoot quiz, Kahoot wants to recognize the use of Kahoot, asking creators if they want to use as a teacher or student, socially or at work.

Kahoot then would ask creators if they want to create a quiz, discussion, survey or jumble. I proceed to make a quiz for a final exam practice.

For the quiz created, creators have some control that includes; who can view the quiz, what language it will be in, and adding a cover image to name a few.

In order to create each question, the user has to do it one at a time. Creators have to fill in their question, the time limit for the question, four answers with one correct answer. To indicate the correct answer, creator must check marked the correct answer. The green circle with the check mark is shown to be the correct answer.

Once the first question is completed, you will be able to see the questions in order and add more. At this page, you will be able to change the orders of the questions, the time limit, and to edit or delete the questions as well.

Once users have completed and are satisfied with the questions created, Kahoot will ask creators if they want to edit it, preview it, play it, or share it. The preview option allows creators to see the quiz in the quiz-takers point of view.

Demo of Kahoot

The quiz creator has two options of providing the quiz; it can be played with player versus player, or team versus team. The player versus player is the classic mode where everyone who plays competes each other. With the player versus player mode being chosen, the demo for Kahoot will be explained below.

The quiz-takers will need access to Kahoot on either the computer or any mobile devices such as a cellphone or tablet. Once they are on the site, they will be asked to enter the game pin. Users would also be able to assign a nickname for the quiz, and this is use for the leader score board.

The game pin will consists of random numbers that will reflect the test being taken.

Once everyone is ready and joined the quiz session, the question will be shown on the creator’s screen which must available for all the quiz-takers. This means that the question will not be shown on the quiz-takers screen, it will only be on one screen, which is the person who created the quiz.

The content that is on the quiz-takers screen are the four different shapes, the shapes reflect the answers to the questions projected by the creator of the quiz; the answers will also only be available to read on the projected screen.

Once Kahoot recognizes that all participants have submitted their answer, the results of the correct answer will be shown on the main screen. The main screen should show results of all the participant with bar graphs of what participants chose as the correct answer. The correct answer is shown as well, it is indicated by the check mark.

If participants selects the correct answer, and if the reward system is turned on by the quiz creator, winners would get points for answering the correct answer. In addition, it would indicate which place the quiz-taker is in.

The blog was about the player versus player game mode, therefore the video below will demonstrate the team mode setting.

If there are confusion about written instructions of creating a Kahoot quiz, a video below is attached demonstrating how to create one step by step.
