It can be dangerous to simply blend marketing expenses/new customers. As it obfuscates many things. What is included in marketing spend (headcount, branding, PR or just channel activation costs). How strong is their organic channel? Is one paid channel propping up other channels?
This is such a thorough article that I’d hate to see the denominator overly simplified.
