Yes, during the two year probationary period a teacher can receive a “Notice of Non-Reelect”, a euphemism for FIRED without cause. The CTA made a bargain with the Devil that reduced the probationary period from three to two years with the trade off that teachers can be released with no cause, and for totally discriminatory reasons, as the ‘reason’ is legally hidden. Previous to this ill advised bargain, teachers had the protections of due process and were notified of the reason(s) for their dismissal which could be challenged in court.
