Wait, did you just compare GDPR-like regulations for data transparency or even stricter laws about data access compare to what happens in China and North Korea? You either a.) speak in hyperbole or b.) have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

The “stop using Facebook” argument is akin to saying “It’s my way or the highway.” That’s like saying, “If you don’t like that your hospital sells your data, find another hospital.” Data regulations serve a purpose. Asking for more transparency or protection of personal information is not really a big ask. I am not sure why anyone would be opposed to such measures.
