The fun of creativity is to throw lots of creations out there and see what sticks.

Jay Schultz

“…A freelance life, a life in the arts, is sometimes like putting messages in bottles, on a desert island, and hoping that someone will find one of your bottles and open it and read it, and put something in a bottle that will wash its way back to you: appreciation, or a commission, or money, or love. And you have to accept that you may put out a hundred things for every bottle that winds up coming back.” — NEIL GAIMAN

I’ve always loved the quote: “THROW A BUNCH OF SHIT AGAINST THE WALL AND SEE WHAT STICKS”.

I found the originator of it is the Eighteenth-century French writer, historian, and philosopher Voltaire. He didn’t use the word shit, he used the word mud. His actual quote was: “THROW ENOUGH MUD AT THE WALL, SOME OF IT WILL STICK.” This quote has had similar variations over the years:

”Take action. Throw shit at the wall. Some will stick…”

“Throw stuff at the wall, see what sticks. If nothing sticks.. hang out in the pile.”

“If you throw enough shit against a wall some of it has gotta stick.”
