These stories are irritating because it assumes that people who rent maybe aren’t innovative enough to consider the possibility that there’s an accessible alternative to “throwing away money every month.” The truth is, if you are lucky enough to be born to wealthy/financially stable parents, you are privileged. Not having to pay for your education gives you a huge leg up in your twenties. Having access to your parents’ wealthy network of friends means internships and entry level jobs. And of course, home ownership. For kids who have student loan payments, they can rely on two things to get there — extreme frugality and serious hustle.
