Choosing and Visualizing

Hey there gorgeous girls,
I’m going to jump right in here. I believe that every situation we face in life offers us a choice. No matter what is handed to us — good or bad — it is our choice as to how we handle that which is sent our way or that which we create for ourselves.
I would like you to try something for a while until it becomes a habit. Set your alarm for just 1 minute earlier. When you wake up in the morning, before you put that little foot outside of your bed I want you to say this to yourself: “I choose to be happy.” Lie there for a minute and visualize this. Visualize a beautiful day. A day where you are happy.
Visualization is such a powerful tool in our lives. We become and are what we think of the most. Going through the process of getting a divorce has taken the utmost amount of strength to get over the hurdles during this time in my life. I‘ll be honest with you, because, after all we are all human. We make mistakes. We learn. The days I’ve jumped out of bed without a second thought — without that conscious effort to choose happiness — have been my most difficult in dealing with whatever has come my way. The days that I have lay for just a minute and visualized my day being happy, I have coped with my challenges far better. It’s not an easy habit to form when you are finding things tough in life. I know this. I’m aware of this. But it’s because I’m going through this that I’m reminded once again of the power of this visualization. We have sooo many choices in life. How wonderful it is to know that happiness is one of them. The moment we realize we should not be counting on others, events, or when we’ve
lost 5lbs, got that job or own that pair of shoes to make us happy what amazing power we have over our lives.
Make a conscious effort to be happy. Truly happy. Within yourself. Whatever your situation. One of my greatest teachers I have been blessed to have in my life was my grandmother. She was not wealthy, well educated or sophisticated. But she was happy — truly happy. She found her joy in every day; in every situation she found herself in. My earliest memories of her are spending an entire day in the ocean with her and my younger cousins. How crazy that these memories span back to the age of 4. We would emerge only to have an ice cream, lunch, a snack or something to drink. And then back we’d go. Jumping in and playing catch with the waves. And there was such joy. In such a simple action. I’d fall fast asleep that night. I always remember thinking before drifting into dreamland: “Now that was a perfect day.” The next day we’d be back. And we’d repeat those days for our vacation. Of course in between were shopping trips and fun fair visits. We did, after all, need a break from our African sun. But everything was simple.
My last memories of this incredible woman was when I’d pop in to say hello to her at her very humble one bedroom apartment. There was always someone visiting. There was always laughter emanating from her home as I walked up the passage because of that beautiful happy soul. What a lesson there is there. She always chose to be happy and so she WAS.
And so, as I’m entering a new era in my life I’m reminded once again of visualization. I’m reminded again that I need to create what I want and need in my life, first and foremost in my mind, to make it come true. I’m working on this every day. It is a constant challenge to start with this notion. To start this afresh. After all, none of us envision our “happily ever afters” to not manifest. So I invite you to do the same. It has worked for me in my life whenever I have instigated this and believed with every part of my being that it IS SO!! There is no room for other thoughts. You just need that clear vision of where you want to be, start working at it but most of all see yourself there. Feel yourself there. Let’s start changing our lives for the better, girls. Because we have the power within us to do so. Let us choose our paths, visualize them and make them our realities.
I leave you with a quote from Kalil Gibran; an eastern philosopher who wrote “The Prophet” and who’s life philosophies feed my soul:
“For self is a sea boundless and measureless.
Say not, “I have found the truth,” but rather, “I have found a truth.”
Say not, “I have found the path of the soul.” Say rather, “I have met the soul walking upon my path.”
For the soul walks upon all paths.
The soul walks not upon a line, neither does it grow like a reed.
The soul unfolds itself, like a lotus of countless petals.”
May your soul’s journey unfold and be beautiful. May you have courage to make the right choices and to have strength to form and stay with your visualizations so that your lives will be fulfilled and happy. No matter what your path unfolds. May your core always find its joy. 🦋🦋🦋
