Things I Have Actually Done to Escape Street Harassment
Nicole Clark

Have you ever tried talking to them like you would to any regular person? You might be surprised by the response you get. When I get approached on the street, I might say something like, “Thanks, I’m flattered, but I have a boyfriend.” or “I’m really not interested. But it was nice to meet you and I hope you enjoy your day.” This won’t work every time as some people are really persistent or just super weird (or if you’re actually in danger), but most people are actually very reasonable when you treat them like a human being.

A single golf clap? Or a long standing ovation?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
