Science & Art: A Perfect Relationship

How do we define science? How do we define art?
In my view, both are ambitious ways to create & define the world we observe through our limited senses. We tend to have a mentality that everything we understand about science (e.g. Standard Model, General relativity, etc.) is set in stone. This is not what the art of science is about and needless to say, these models of how we measure the predictions of interactions in the world are still open for interpretation! The beautiful thing about science is that it is provisional. Here we are halfway though 2017 and we’ve reached a scientific roadblock of understanding. The way we’ve laid things out simply doesn’t add up anymore. The enthusiasm seems to be contained in a mindset of ideology.
For me, science lacks the art of imagination & creativity, undoubtedly. So what if we said that blending those two aspects could be a catalyst for breakthroughs and advancements we’ve never experienced before? Opening up a whole host of possibilities we couldn’t even begin to comprehend.
For example, let’s imagine the discovery of a new element/particle — or even a new force of nature…
• How would it behave?
• What would it look like?
• How would it feel?
Collectively, we’ve become so complacent for what we think we know about the universe, that anything that came along disrupting that truth would rattle our cognitive understanding. Our hearts would palpitate with astonishment. It would, for decades occupy our curiosity by expanding human perception. Without immediately knowledge, it would also play a major role in our biological evolution. Shaping us in ways that cater to the new experience of observation(s)

You might know how it feels to be ‘in the zone’, right? Adrenaline pumping, pure focus/clarity while everything seems to be working synchronistically in your favor. The feeling is so good you don’t ever want to lose that sense of “nirvana”. For me, this is where I believe we reach to the outermost limits of human consciousness and capability. Now imagine having a room full of science enthusiasts, artists and anyone else who is intrigued by this very notion, always feeling as though we’re on the cusp of a breakthrough…
By the simple application of [art] imagination & creativity to science and the inverse— new ideas can become reality and those realities can lead to newer ideas.
We need to allow for the possibilities of science & art coexist as a symbiosis to the human experience. Taking us into new realms. Lifting life’s mundane tasks & freeing us to be in the open spaces of our imagination.
Perhaps what we need is a renaissance of scientific artistry. There might exist a perfect balance of both structure & chaos. Remember, we most often regret the things we don’t do.
