Many people still believe the film footage of the Storming of the Winter Palace was taken at the time, as opposed to being a later re-creation of Eisenstein's. My understanding is that there was no storming anyway. Just some Bolsheviks asking the caretaker for the key.

If you'd like a British contribution to your list, I recommend the English Civil War. Everyone drones on about it endlessly but I've never found anything after it that wasn't pretty much there before it.
