Our Fear and Ignorance Will Be the Death of Us All if We Don’t Stop It

Make It Make Sense

Have you ever witnessed something so unimaginably stupid that you struggled to comprehend it? Did it make you feel crazy because no one else was as confused by it as you were?

I experience this all the time because of humans. It is beyond frustrating.

I see such good in us, but we seem to go out of our way to do some bizarrely moronic things. There is so much fear and hate running around today that I struggle to comprehend it.

For example…

British Neo-Nazis
During the BLM protests in the middle of covid, people were trying to tear down statues of slave owners in London. British Neo-Nazis decided to group together and protect their heritage. I’m watching this on the news and my brain is on fire.

I called up my friend in England and asked him, “How the fuck do you have British Nazis! Do they not remember the War? Did Londoners imagine all of those Bombs being dropped on them!? What the hell is going on here!?”

How do you protect your history and ignore it at the same time? This makes no sense.

Are black people going to join the Ku Klux Klan now?
Sure, they have a violent history, but we agree with their core family values and the outfits are really comfortable. I even got to ride a horse!

Are there people in India that miss colonialism?
They may have stolen most of our wealth and killed millions of us due to various economic famines, but they do know how to run things. We also love Cricket and Mr Bean.

As a mixed-race man, I know racism is idiotic. Two brave people decide to ignore the bigotry and found love instead, during a time when it was dangerous to do so. I am a product of their defiance.

Growing up in multicultural London in the 90s, we really felt like racism was on the way out. How very wrong we were. Things got ugly after 9–11.

Why we must consistently subject ourselves to flawed arguments on race frustrates and confounds me — but that deserves a rant on its own.

I’ll let Kanye West battle it out with his White Lives Matter t-shirt for now.

Book Bans
These books scare you? Really?

You are angry at imaginary talking animals being used to comment on historical politics?

A Brave New World, a science fiction novel, bothers you because it attempts to predict what the future may look like?

Harry Potter is basically a rip-off of Starwars, but you are worried it will convince children to summon demons in your basement? English kids with wands… in a lighthearted fantasy book — That’s what the devil chose to steal souls with?

Where the hell were you when they made 8 movies? They still sell Ouija boards, for Christ’s sake!

I have children, so I might agree with you about overtly sexual themes, but you can’t avoid the topic forever. A book might be a great way to bring it up. That way, you can skip slide shows or wildlife similes. I still don’t get the birds and the bees thing.

Penis, vagina, babies — How difficult is that?

Why are you desperate to cower away from uncomfortable words?

What is the use of wrapping children up in cotton wool? The real world will not show them the same kindness. I don’t know if you have noticed, but it’s not exactly a garden of Eden out there.

I over-prepared my kids for the harsh realities of the adult world. No topic was ever tabboo. I wanted them well-informed, thick-skinned and immune to people’s lies and manipulations — especially my daughter. I might make her read The Anarchist Cookbook, for some handy tips on home safety.

These are just words and ideas. It’s what you do with them that matters. Talk to your kids, it’s not that scary. They may even teach you a thing or two. We all need to read more.

People Against Breast Feeding and Breasts in General
For some reason, breasts are highly controversial. I have no clue why it is even being discussed, but idiots love to shame and sexualise women.

I watched a video about why people disapprove of breastfeeding in public. A young girl, who couldn’t have been more than 15, passed a nursing mother in a shopping mall and told her that she was disgusting and that breastfeeding was gross.

YOU SAID WHAT NOW!?

How can you be so ignorant and ashamed of something so natural? You are not even a woman yet, but you are openly offended by a nipple and a newborn? Who did this to you?

Another woman went out of her way to inform a mother that they have changing rooms in the back for this sort of thing. My mind exploded.

What happened to supporting women? How about minding your own business, you entitled cluck? The baby is hungry. Let it eat from a perfectly designed baby food delivery system.

Why are people afraid of side-boob and hungry infants? This is nature — and the main reason we are all alive today.

Hide Your Girls, Men are Watching

People recently attacked actress Florence Pugh online for having the audacity to wear yet another see-through outfit during Paris Fashion Week. She was called vulgar and all sorts of horrible things, mainly by men, because they could see her nipples.

What a shameless whore!

Explain this to me. How are adults complaining about a not-exactly nude woman in 2022? At a fashion show. Is this news?

Pointy nipples bouncing on catwalks have poked me in the eyes for years. Stop shaming women for existing. It’s a waste of digital ink.

Please let women do what they want with their bodies. You are fucking it up for the rest of us men who are quietly enjoying the scenery.

Anti-Abortion Hypocrisy

I really don’t care about your stance on this matter. You are free to think as you choose.

It’s the hypocrisy that makes me want to tear my head off and start beating people with it.

We have Republicans supporting various men who use ant-abortion as a way to get votes and further their careers, even though they have paid for abortions in the past.

It’s like these politicians are not as decent as they claim to be. I’m shocked.

To make matters worse, their party is willing to ignore this because their only concern is maintaining power.

Two-party politics looks more like sport than anything else. You just want your team to win, even if the stadium is on fire.

How you can govern a woman's body is beyond me. If there was a law forcing men to have their tubes tied because semen is the primary cause of pregnancy, there would be riots in the streets.

I completely understand the whole “sanctity of life” argument, but it is beyond weak.

As a thought experiment, let’s all agree abortions are bad and should be illegal because of what the bible tells us. Quoting from this website:

Every human life, from conception through death, is therefore to be valued, respected, nurtured, and protected. Every human life is to be lived in obedience to God and His Word.

The Bible describes a moral order to which all persons are responsible. At the end of life, all persons will stand before God to give account for their actions.

This sounds great, but why are we stopping with abortion?

Why not ban all murder?

It couldn’t be clearer: Every Human Life is to be valued.

If we did that, we would no longer have wars, and that would be spectacular. I’m all for it.

Why do I hear the same religious mob asking for bombs to be dropped on foreign lands? Are they not valued? Will we not stand before God for those actions?

Somehow, you can ignore God when the talk moves on from cute unborn babies. Save them, but the grown-ups can go to hell. I’m confused.

On a scale of 1 to 10, which is worse: Clinical abortion, or death by bombs and bullets?

Which one should we tackle first?

I’ll wait.

You can’t have it both ways.

This is a complex issue and needs to be treated as such. Winning votes to place nationwide bans on something is not going to make it go away. If that worked, there would be no drugs on the streets. Is that still a problem?

Stuck In The Middle

I could go on for hours, but you get the point.

We all have our frustrations with the world, and these are a few of mine. They bother me because they are pointless and damaging. So many conversations, mostly a waste of time.

There is so much anger in the world right now. A lot of it is based on the frustration of not being able to change or move forward.

Some want to return to an idyllic dream of yesteryear that never existed. They are determined to hold on to outdated and dangerous ideas.

I thought we all agreed that Nazis and fascism were bad?

On the other side, the desire for change is so frantic that it has the opposite effect. People resist it because no one likes to be forced, even if it is a good thing. Ever argued with a child about eating vegetables?

They are so desperate to change things that they won’t give us time to let it settle in. Instead, they shove their ideology down our throats, shouting at us because we are confused and don’t understand the new rules yet.

I blame the internet and our so-called leaders for encouraging all of this madness.

The echo chamber convinces people that their feelings are more important than facts or empathy. If you are already ignorant, the algorithm will be more than happy to prove you right.

If you are filled with hate, the internet will amplify your prejudices and make it easy to find others like you. Now you have an angry mob with memes.

Powerful manipulators gaslight us for their own gain, spreading ignorance and hate with every news headline or viral post. They use fake morals and religion to get us angry and fearful of each other, convincing us to build walls.

They tell us how to think and make opinions taste like facts, convincing us to part with money to help the cause. We later learn they used the money to buy expensive homes and champagne dinners.

They don't tell us to talk to each other or to build bridges to find common ground. It would be better for everyone if we did, but team mentality is king today.

It must be so comforting to be able to pick a team, to feel part of something larger than yourself.

I’m both black and white, raised in America and England. Neither left nor right. I am the Middle | Man. There is no team for me.

I’m pro-people and anti-ignorance. I want to build and improve, not fight and accuse. That's a decent concept, but it’s not represented anywhere. Not really. Why are there only ever two political choices in a world this complex?

I understand the arguments, and may even share some of the frustrations, but I do not see the world the same way as most. I am mainly confused by humans today.

I know I’m not alone, but it's hard to hear your voices hidden in the static.

How I See The World

There are no colours, there is no left or right. These are labels and preferences. It’s all fantasy.

We are all wandering around this earth trying to make the most of this strange thing called life. We came into the world the same way and will die the same. Peel back the layers — same meat and bones, same dreams and desires.

That’s the one that gets me the most. It is so obvious. We have much more in common than we are willing to accept. Men, women, black, white, and all the rest.

We are Homo Sapien. Human. Children of the Sun.

And the closer we get to the sun, the darker some become. That doesn’t define a person’s intelligence or capability. Why would it? We have people of colour because it’s the best way to prevent sunburn, you ignorant fucks.

We are foreign to each other only because of our history, culture, and location — something none of us had a choice in. Who knows, I was probably one cum shot away from being born in Alaska.

We should celebrate our culture and history, but not to the point of exclusion. Variety is the spice of life, after all. When you mix spices, you can create something new and exciting.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to live a predictably bland and spiceless life.

Life is Weird

We have been blessed with a perfect world that houses everything we need to live a happy life.

Yet, somehow, we waste our time arguing over whose team is the best or which one is closer to God. We debate endlessly about what we should be collectively offended by.

We tell lies just so we can be in control. We blame others for all of our problems, casting stones at anything that we don’t like the look of. If we are called out, we ignore or deny our misdeeds.

Fake news! Witch Hunt! Fake news!

Meanwhile, people are starving the world over, our seas are poisoned, income inequality is insane, unhinged Putin wants to use Nuclear weapons and slavery still exists.

We are on the edge of an unimaginable economic collapse, most of us can barely afford to live, and Elon Musk still wants to buy Twitter for some reason.

The world is statistically better than it has ever been, but looking at how many angry, desperate, confused, misinformed and depressed people there are, you wouldn’t believe it.

If we are not careful, our fear and ignorance will destroy us all.

That would be a monumentally stupid way to go.

There are so many better things we could be doing with our time here.
