Put on your thinking hat, now try and answer where will the French forward Kylian Mbappe play next season. The potential answers, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) or the team that has wanted him since forever, Real Madrid. The 21-year-old world cup winner has been on the charts of transfer for a long time, but as Madrid draws closer, PSG tries to shut the door each time. With too much hustle, Mbappe’s transfer to Real Madrid sits in the middle of nowhere. But, according to multiple reports, there is an ongoing tension between the club and the player, which may become a reason for his exit.

According to L’Équipe, the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani – who also owns PSG through Qatar Sports Investment -- will not let winger leave the club. “Come wind, snow or rain, Mbappe will stay, that is the Emir’s desire,” a source close to the Emir was quoted as saying. With such a high demand, the dilemma just keeps increasing. Also, to keep him glued to the club, it has been ascertained that his wages would be doubled, making him the third highest paid player in the world. But, if money is all that matters, 'you go to China,' said Mbappe's teammate Marco Verratti, who insisted that none of his team-mates is interested in financial gain. And, if much similar is the case with forward, the tables may turn completely against the French club.

Optimism in Spain

The Spanish Press has been getting really excited over Mbappe's transfer to Real Madrid, and adding to that factor is the real secret of his love towards current Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane.

Interestingly, Mbappe also published a letter on The Players' Tribune, recalling training with Real Madrid, and excitement over meeting his idol. Zidane has long held desire to make Mbappe play for the Spanish Giants. Three years ago, at the time when he signed for the Paris side, it was highly likely that Madrid would sign him, but the deal did not go their way.

Nonetheless, the magnetism between the two Frenchmen still drew possibility, and Real Madrid is now likely to break the bank and to pay Mbappe for the transfer value he deserves.

What's on the Line?

More than a club to club scenario, Mbappe transfer to Real Madrid might also develop personal aversion. As seen before, Real Madrid's owner Florentino Pérez Rodríguez and PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi share a close bond. The two have been spotted together multiple times, sharing laughs in the football stands. However, with PSG's will to retain Mbappe and Madrid's stubbornness to sign him, the tensions may foster between the two.

Contrarily, if money is the factor at any point in time, it is highly likely that both the clubs would be ready to shower millions, but not back off from what they want. Amidst pandemic, it is arguable that Mbappe transfer value might fluctuate. Yet, the point of forced retention by PSG may weigh much heavily and still witness Mbappe head for the exits.
