18th August, 2017. Copenhagen, Denmark. • Poem is overlain on a picture of a tree stump found in a shack in Copenhagen’s Botanical Gardens.

Welcome to Midnight Plume Poetry’s first poem. The concept: handwritten poetry, photographed.

What I love about poetry is the significance and depth of each word, each placement on the page, each phrase’s melody. Handwriting adds yet another layer of meaning, as I’ve come to feel after years of journaling. Calm, frustration, anguish… it’s all there, out in the open.

To add to the visual meaning of each poem, I’m pairing my writing with a found surface from the location where the poems were written. This one is of a tree stump found lying in a shack in the corner of Copenhagen’s Botanical Gardens…***
