Mighty Corporation Encourages Filipino Farmers to use Organic Pesticides

The country’s oldest and and Filipino-owned cigarette manufacturer, Mighty Corp., is paving the way for a much greener future.

The cigarette company urges local tobacco farmers to find alternative and organic pesticides to use rather than relying one chemical-based pesticides.

Not only will this help the environment as time goes by, but it will also significantly increase the income of the domestic tobacco farmers.

According to the vice president and spokesperson of Mighty Corp., this was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility thrust. He also added that more and more local farmers are using organic pesticides rather than relying solely on chemical-based ones.

“This trend should be encouraged,” the vice president added.

Mighty Corp. has been coordinating with the National Tobacco Administration (NTA), Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority (FPA) of the Department of Agriculture (DA) and University of the Philippines in Los Baños, Laguna (UPLB) for this purpose.
