Trump’s Crackdown On Marijuana…For Profit

In recent news, The Trump administration is preparing a crackdown on marijuana smokers, growers, and sellers. Their basis is the increase of violence as their probable cause which all seem to be just smoke and mirrors. We all know that Big Pharma is taking a heavy hit from marijuana due to the many proven healing properties and fight against cancer. Big Pharma is projected to lose $4 Billion dollars a year to medical marijuana. It is predicted that legal marijuana sales will exceed $20 billion dollars by 2020. With that said, alcohol and pharma groups have been discreetly backing the anti-marijuana DOJ in efforts to put a stop to the rise of marijuana and to deepen their own pockets with Trump and politicians alike.

Studies led by Dr. Wai Liu at St. George’s University of London stated that marijuana not only helps fight the symptoms of treating cancer, but also the disease itself.

“This study is a critical step in unpicking the mysteries of cannabis as a source of medicine. The cannabinoids examined have minimal, if any, hallucinogenic side effects, and their properties as anti-cancer agents are promising. These agents are able to interfere with the development of cancerous cells, stopping them in their tracks and preventing them from growing. In some cases, by using specific dosage patterns, they can destroy cancer cells on their own.”-Dr Wai Liu

Pope Francis on the other hand stated that a reduction in the spread and influence of drug addiction will not be achieved by a liberalization of drug use. Perhaps he is talking about recreational marijuana use opposed to strict medical use.

“The worst cancer in a hospital like this is corruption,” he said. “In this world where there is so much business involved in health care, so many people are tricked by the sickness industry, ‘Bambino Gesu’ hospital must learn to say no. Yes, we all are sinners. Corrupt, never.”-Pope Francis

Will the continuing legalization of recreational marijuana be a topic in the next meeting between President Trump and Pope Francis? If so, let’s hope they cover all of the positive facts and just move forward with the momentum it is at now.
