Changes in Australian Migration
Australia Visa Updates
Update 1: A new option, the Temporary Graduate visa stream, is now available for graduates (subclass 485) impacted by COVID-19 travel restrictions. This visa can be applied for until January 1, 2027, maintaining the previous visa’s duration. Some individuals may receive extended time, such as those with a 2-year Post Study Work visa from completing a Master by coursework, now eligible for a 3-year replacement. To qualify, applicants must apply before January 1, 2027, demonstrate time lost due to COVID-19 restrictions, and have held the affected temporary visa before December 15, 2021.
Update 2: Beginning in the 2022–2023 financial year, graduates of CRICOS registered qualifications with at least 92 weeks of study, regardless of occupation, can now apply for the Temporary Graduate stream (485 visas). This expansion includes all VET course graduates, eliminating the requirement for occupation nomination on the skilled occupation list. Eligible applicants must be under 50 years old, hold a valid Australian visa, have maintained a student visa for the last 6 months, uphold health insurance, provide an Australian Police Check or proof of application, and demonstrate the required English proficiency level.
