Thanks for the article. However, genuinely feel you’re confused between Marketing, Branding, and Advertising. Marketing has 4P’s — Of those , place ( acquisition channels), pricing, and product can’t be ignored at any stage of revenue
Branding and advertising are subsets of promotion. Any company has to get the basics of branding right at the start so that customer experiences of your product are uniform and consistent.
When you used marketing, did you just mean advertising? If so, you may have some truth in the statement but not all. Any new tech product disseminates it’s use case through advertising. While it may not be conventional advertising ( buying ad inventories and all that), it definitely involves stuff like PR. Uber and FB had a lot of good initial PR while Dollar Shave Club user a hack job video.
