Don’t write on a Monday
Or design, or code, or create
How much longer can our brains be in overdrive?
We’re drinking tons of coffee, hacking our productivity, and squeezing our creativity like we wring out a sponge.
But then we get to Monday.
We’re tired from the weekend. Pot of coffee for breakfast. Our inbox is full. We have meetings all morning. We eat leftovers for lunch. Our eyes are droopy by 1pm.
And then we try to write. Or code. Or design. We try to rev up our creative engine, ignoring that we’re running on fumes.
We keep pushing ourselves, trying to grind out something productive. Our brains shut-down, and we bring out the jumper cables: another cup of coffee; no luck. Case of Red Bull, GO GO GO!
People, give your brains a rest.
A great chef cooks all week, and takes Monday off. We can’t spend 18 hours a day in front of screens, 7 days a week, and stay sharp.
It’s OK.
Take it easy. Clean your desk. Catch up on your email. Go to the park on your lunch hour, lay in the grass, and just close your eyes. Read a magazine (a real one, with pages). Let your brain breathe a little. Calm yourself. Don’t draw water from an empty well.
You don’t need to write on a Monday.
