New podcasts, existing podcasts, and popular podcasts: the majority all still run on good 'ol RSS. The whole beauty of the open-ecosystem, especially for podcast creators, is there is no single, centralized megacorp that "owns" podcasting. Apple has about 30%-40% share. Spotify has about 30-40% share.

👏 Well said Matt! Many of the features suggested in Michael's piece are already being explored as a part of the https://podcastindex.org/ project. But more importantly, Spotify seems particularly hungry to be the "centralized platform" for podcasting. They want discovery, consumption, and monetization can happen in the same place.
