React to IT change

Notes from The Iron Yard

Well the clouds have finally cleared over St. Petersburg, Florida and our cohort survivors are able to see the sunshine again. We’re locked in on a 12 week immersive coding class and now that the first quarter is done, there is a new framework that we will learn.

In the world of IT there is constant change and the challenge for us is to match the speed of it in order to provide leading edge solutions. Now that our work on HTML, CSS and JavaScript has reached a level of competence to continue the accelerated pace expected, we jump into the JavaScript tool used by Instagram and Facebook called React.

Today we switched to a class participation style of development and review that has everyone working on and understanding the project. The task of entering the code is passed around the group and we all decide the next logical step to program and verbally contribute React’s JSX syntax to be entered into the modules to accomplish it.

I believe that if we continue to work as well together as we did today over the next half of the front end engineering class, that we will be prepared to create awesome final quarter projects.

Stay tuned for updates on our progress toward success.
