Teaching of wisdom is very different from the mainstream forms that became dominant in the third century CE under Roman control. It is sad that this was lost and only the myth based, authoritarian version survived.
As traditional religions die out that loss become more obvious. The only viable spiritual philosophies today are wisdom based. That is the central element of Buddhist thought that has survived and spread as mindfulness.
It is easier to sell authoritarian systems with exclusive ‘rewards’ than to sell knowledge that requires work.
