I’m beyond excited to share with you some details regarding my newest publication. Hands-on Incident Response and Digital Forensics. The book will hit shelves in mid-July, and is being published by BCS: The Chartered Institute for IT.
I’ve poured my heart and soul into this one, and I hope that shows in the finished product. This book should serve as a no-nonsense guide to the role of an incident responder and forensic investigator. It’ll also show the complex relationship between these two disciplines. Undoubtedly connected, but often with opposing goals, Incident Response and Digital Forensics are two key principles for organisations to understand when it comes to getting things right following a security incident
Everyone, myself included, has read a textbook and thought, “Well this is great, but I don’t think this would work in real life!” In writing this book, I kept this in mind, as I created chapters that I believe contain actionable advice, and are tied back to real life stories and cases that I’ve worked during my career. This mix of technical publication, along with first-hand anecdotes, I really think helps keep things engaging and drives the point home.
I hope you can pick up and enjoy a copy from one of the following locations, which are currently accepting pre-orders (wink wink):

Finally, a couple of notes of thanks. I’d like to thank BCS for giving me the opportunity to write this book and share with you some of my experiences, and relearn a bunch of stuff in the process. I’d like to thank Raj Singh, Accolade CEO, and co-founder of Concur for contributing the Foreword. Most importantly, I’d like to thank my family for allowing me the time to sit in my office and work on the book after hours and at weekends!
Writing this book has really been a career highlight for me. Fingers crossed that reading the reviews will be just as enjoyable!
