The story of the Hoptimist
The little folk-like, bouncing figure hoptimist was created many years ago, but is still a symbol of the Danish spirit today. This is the story of the Hoptimist.
The Hoptimist came to the world in 1968
It was the Danish furniture cutter, Hans Gustav Ehrenreich, who originally created the hoptimist. Before the optimist came to the world, Ehenreich experimented with a variety of objects in his small workshop in Stilling på Århusvej. There were no things that looked similar and everything in his workshop was unique, whether it was a small silverfish or small wooden objects from all over the world.

In the 1960s the prototypes of the first hoptimists were created and these prototypes include the hoptimists we know today, Birdie, Bimble and Bumble. Soon, the small workshop was in the Small Position, and Ehrenreich had to expand so that he could keep up with the demand for the small bouncing figures.
Ehrenreich continued the production of the hoptimists and soon he had also created the frog Tweed, which also became popular throughout the country. He participated in a wide range of exhibitions and won both prizes at home and abroad.
Hoptimists jump back in people’s hearts
However, demand for the fine hoptimists stopped over time and soon the production of the figures stopped. However, it was only until 2009 that you chose to relocate the hoptimist, after which the happy hoptimist again jumped up and down in both Denmark and the rest of the world.
The hoptimists who are created today are in the spirit of Ehrenreich and every hoptimist is developed on the basis of the principles he had for the figures. His basic thought was to draw the hoptimist using a circle and an elipse and this idea is also the basis for the creation of the Hoptimists. So no matter how modern a hoptimist can look, you can be sure that it is created with Ehrenreich in mind and it will be true to his original ideas and thoughts for this figure.
Find your color, shape and size
The Hoptimists can be found in all shapes, types, colors and sizes, and even you can get some who fly in the air and some who get stuck and jumping out there. Throughout the lifetime of the Hoptimists, the company has managed to innovate the idea of the figure and is in constant product development. That means that you can still get the most classical hoptimists while still finding hoptimists that are modern and fit in today’s fashion. Today you can find the series ‘Black ash’, which is a collection based on Danish and Nordic and a bit raw.
The Hoptimists in this series are made of ash in dark colors, which in turn creates a character and stands out. The style is classic and fits into a stylish home, where the delicious things are in the foreground and the focus is constantly on quality and durability. In addition to the two classical hoptimists Bimble and Bumble, you can also get the significantly smaller baby, but all together in the same, delicious tree. If you want a hoptimist who will not be overlooked by anyone
you can buy the exclusive Mega Bumble, which has a shiny surface that makes everything around it reflected and becomes part of the joy that the figure radiates.
To get a smile — at all
For the Hoptimist company, one of the most important is to get a smile at all, no matter who it is. The company sponsors the local football team, Team Rynkeby and in addition Hoptimist is also sponsor of the Danish hospital wards who walk around the Danish hospitals and have a smile on the lips of many sick children who do not necessarily have so much to smile in everyday life.
