The Matter of Life
As we read God’s Word, we get vital reminders. Let’s take these seriously, as God knows what is best for us.
We hear reminders in the wisdom of scripture. We have to be able to respond. Sometimes we need to ask for God’s help to do that. Look at this passage in Romans to get help for ourselves:
Then let us no more pass judgment on one another, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother.
Romans 14: 13 RSV
When we put a stumbling block in front of us, we often start putting stumbling blocks in front of others. This starts with us. Focus on the matter of life that Christ has for us. This extends to others. We’ll be better for it.
Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you stand firm in one spirit, with on mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel, and not frightened in anything by your opponents. This is a clear omen to them of their destruction, but of our salvation, and that from God.
Romans 1: 27–28 RSV
Fear drives us to seek our answers on our own. Seek Christ for answers that help you and others.
