“War And Remembrance”

The eagles gather…

It’s a dark, snowy morning in the Susquehanna Valley and the 44th anniversary of my arrival in Da Nang, Vietnam — Republic of. I was 20. It was the 10th day of the Easter Offensive. The NVA had invaded at three points with over 120,000 men, including tanks for the first time. It was an uncertain, chaotic mess. In the States, a war weary populace paid no attention. For the next 74 days I got to see most of it flying medevacs and resupplies from Saigon to An Loc and toward Quang Tri. Ultimately, the invasion failed, but it cost both sides 150,000 dead and wounded. On the 9th, no one knew what was going to happen. Interesting times. Hard to believe it was so long ago. What a long, strange dream it’s been. You can read my take on it all in ‘Never Forgotten,’ on Amazon. http://amzn.com/B015MD5WEI
