One-Handed Guard Drains First Bucket Of College Career

Florida Gators’ guard Zach Hodskins, a walk-on who was born without his left hand, scored the first two points of his collegiate career on Tuesday night.

The Gators went on to defeat Jacksonville 89–65, but Hodskins’ lay-up was worth way more than another W. Hodskins, who played high school ball Alpharetta, Georgia, committed to Florida as a preferred walk-on two years ago. Then head coach Billy Donovan, now of the Oklahoma City Thunder, trusted the kid could play despite what many would view as an obvious disadvantage.

After beginning his career 0-for-5 from the field, the sophomore guard has now achieved the first milestone of his young career.

Congratulations, Zach.
