I’m a little late to be talking about New Years resolutions I think. Don’t care!
Everyone has an opinion about them; they’re good, they’re bad, they’re dumb, they’re useless, don’t wait to start something… the list goes on. All of these are fair, they’re all subjective, and it all boils down to one thing: Do what works best for you. You’d think that was obvious but very few people are inclined to figure that out they just want to copy what’s worked for everyone else.
I’ve done every spin imaginable on resolutions. When I first started getting serious about losing weight? I started the first week of December and let me tell you- that was a sparse Christmas dinner of turkey and broccoli. But to me it was worth doing RIGHT THEN because 200+lbs doesn’t look good on anyone who’s 5'6. If I had waited until after the holidays there’s a substantial chance I wouldn’t have started at all. What can I say? I’m a champion procrastinator but if I start something I rarely quit (except writing at a regular pace apparently).
There you have it. My procrastinated thoughts on the topic of resolutions. Start em whenever! If you want a calendar to measure against New Years is fine and you’ll have lots of people to possible share them and encourage you.
