‘Straight Thuggery’ of the GOP, Time’s Up
Harry Litman’s interview on ‘All In with Chris Hayes’ inspired my inner poet
“Stupefying” said the former deputy assistant attorney general Harry Litman to Chris Hayes on “All In” (#inners) on Jan. 31, 2018.
Litman was responding to Hayes’ inquiry regarding what he thought of President Trump’s direct question to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. Trump reportedly pressured Rosenstein to respond to the question, “Are you on my team?”
Litman described Trump’s behavior overall as “straight thuggery.”
That hit me like a ton of bricks. It perfectly described the behavior of the Republican Party over the past two years, which has totally morphed into Trump’s GOP.
And I was inspired to write this:

A million black kids you denigrate
A million black men you incarcerate

I’m no musical talent, but I think these lyrics could be put to music. With upcoming elections this year, I could see these words on protest signs. Maybe we could advance the movement sparked by one famous Golden Globes award recipient.
