Like you I’d like to understand our universe a good deal better but maybe unlike you, I find the deeper I look into the theories and conjectures, the more confused these leave me. I guess the figures themselves are where it all starts getting confusing. To consider our own galaxy as having something in the order of 300 billion stars and then to try to get your head around the number of observable galaxies goes way, way beyong my imagination. Add to this the ideas we have already touched upon, curved space time, the mere possibility of a multiverse, the time scales it would take just to travel to our nearest neighbour. It all turns already unwieldy figures into, to my mind, the impossible.
I read somewhere recently, travelling at the fastest we are currently able to would mean it would take 6000 years to reach proxima centauri. This destination of course being a mere pinprick against the background of the universe. Is it any wonder my head turns to mush.
All that said, I hope you gain more enlightenment than I have ever been able to with whatever research you undertake
