This throws up yet further questions.

Assuming space/space time/or time itself, label it what you will is an intangible. Like your balloon example, were the balloon fabric able to continue to infinitely stretch there surely must be a limit to such a capability. As an example, were the balloon confined to say a 6ft by 6ft cardboard box there will come a time where it can not ‘expand’ further. Using this same analogy, what is space expanding into? Or is space something, (goodness knows how) which can continue expanding ? If so, what is it expanding into or is it somehow capable of continuously creating space?

Like I said before, for the layman, the more you ask questions the further confused it all becomes.
