Conservatives universally want to equate the “right” to say something with a supposed “right” to not be held accountable for what was said. The government as an entity cannot prevent one from exercising the right to free speech, but the government cannot also block others from holding that one accountable and seeking ramifications such as loss of elected office and loss of customers.
