Indeed it would, and I’d like to see what that effort would look like, if for no other reason than the novelty of presidential campaigns taking the remarkable stance of actually dampening emotions of their own supporters. That’s really the problem, though; presidential campaigns by necessity have to stir up the emotional attachment of their supporters to get volunteers, donations, and votes. And when people are emotionally attached to an idea, they will lash out at perceived slights in often crude and vulgar ways.
