By the same argument if women did not exist but a method of producing a child existed, then women would not be missed.

The idea that women “want to bear children” comes from historical views of biological imperatives. People have this idea that females of all species exist primarily to produce and nurture the young of that species.

Yet the male seahorse is the one who carries and tends to the offspring.

The male emperor penguin sits on and protects the egg for two months after the mother heads out to sea to recover from laying it. Basically a spa retreat for her, while he cares for the young. He starves to protect the young.

The rhea and jacana basically raise the kids on their own.

male wolves are monogamous and devoted fathers.

Giant Male Water Bugs (yes that is a real thing) carry the eggs on their backs until they hatch. 150 at a time.

some frogs and toads carry the tadpoles in their mouths until they can fend for themselves

the pygmy marmoset and the flamingo are the great dads,

The great horned owl lets mom sit on the eggs all winter while he hunts for her and himself and when the chicks
are hatched, hunts for them too.

so in asking if “men want to bear children” you are floating a red herring. Some may want too, just like some women may want too. That does not mean all want too, just that, when capable, many are willing too.
