F*** You, I Quit — Hiring Is Broken

Sahat,

I will just suggest you reread what you wrote here and examine every instance where you use the word “I” to complain about what a company interviewer asked of you.

To be blunt, what you think is relevant is hardly a yardstick that corporations are likely to know or care about.

As a general statement, many young people today (particularly in tech) seem to operate as if the world needs to bow down to them. That they, the young techie, is the arbiter of what an existing company must do. That somehow you know what the company intends to do with the employee they hire.

Your writing suggests you are one of those young people and that you are mistaken in that belief and assumption.

If there is any recommendation for you, it is start your own company. You want to do what you want to do, and few employers will ever all you that luxury. Rise and fall on your own ability and learn how your attitude and perceptions expressed here will earn you income for your future self.

If you do start your company, and gain any success, I expect you will soon run into a newer, younger version of yourself who posts rants and complaints about how ridiculous and useless your interviews are and how irrelevant they are to that younger version of you.

I hope you enjoy when that happens.
