Facilitate the infinite flow of information in order to live YOUR life
Are we as humans really splitting into two groups? Is there in fact a growing “gap” between people? On one side you have the people who will be lost in technology, constantly distracted, cogs in the machine. And the other side you have those who use technology as a tool but remain human and truly live life. Hopefully we find a way soon to bring everybody into a way to live fulfilling lives, but until then...
What someone can do for themselves in this sea of information is to put a cork in the flow of infinite information for a while, and take some time to consider what they truly want. Then, when beginning to let the flow go again do it slowly and begin carving out the paths for information that truly matters, and removing paths for that which does not. (i.e. Unsubscribe to newsletters, unfollow facebook friends, unsubscribe to subreddits and only subscribe to the useful ones)
It hurts to remove things that we think we love, but I promise anyone that if they removed all of that flow, and replaced it with far fewer more powerful streams then they would almost instantaneously feel a sense of relief and over time become more fulfilled.
By facilitating the flow of information into your life there will be a greater ability to mould it into the life you dream of. You have to enjoy the process, and how better to enjoy the process than to be soaking up information that you actually enjoy? Bit by bit this clean flow of information will build up into a giant reserve of useful knowledge.
Go right now, unsubscribe to those subreddits, unfollow those facebook “friends”, and uninstall the social media apps that you don’t use for constructive information gathering. Take some time to unfollow those hundreds of twitter accounts, or just uninstall twitter! Trust me, you won’t be missing out on much. Don’t let FOMO get to you, this is your life that you are designing, not someone else’s.
It shouldn’t bother you to miss out on someone else’s life, but it should bother you to miss out on your own.
