You should be able to see here that “truth” as defined here isn’t a matter of matching a story to reality, but just matching a story to its own retelling. This is, after all, how detectives trip up liars, by looking for inconsistencies in the stories they tell.

Though, I really have to wonder at what point we’re relying on technology to do what should be a pretty straightforward task for news consumer. Are we really so confused by the information that we’re getting that we can’t sort this out for ourselves? Should we be concerned that using technology to solve this problem might further wither our own ability and instinct?
