The “Bern” is Fizzling Out
by Michael Duran
Yeah I said it. Bernie Sanders and his socialist revolution is wrong for this country. Especially when we are slowly, but surely getting back on our feet after the devastating 2008 recession that put hundreds of people out of work. And that is why I believe the “Bern” is going to fizzle out sooner than later.
The editorial done by the Washington Post prompted me to write this. And it totally hits home in why I think Hillary Clinton is a much better option for America at this moment. Long story short, the editorial has prompted the Sander’s campaign to be ‘fictitious’ and something that this country is not ready for just yet.
“He is a politician selling his own brand of fiction to a slice of the country that eagerly wants to buy it,” said by the editorial board of the Washington Post.
Sanders is clearly selling a new brand of politics: fuck the establishment and lets start a revolution. And it is working. The American people are buying into it. It is not a feasible plan and in our times it is nearly impossible. For presidents like FDR and Abraham Lincoln, it was far easier to bring up new ideas that were radical at the time because the issues were not as far and wide as they are now. We deal with a lot of tough issues that don’t go away overnight.
We can see this in the Iowa Caucus, where Clinton barely beat Sanders by a mere .3% according to the New York Times. This was a huge victory for the Sanders campaign, where in the early stages of the campaign Sanders was down by almost 70 percent. But I think this just proves the point to above. That Sanders is just selling a country in which we would all like to live in one day, to the American people. We are eager for something new and want to hear what we want to. And this is not what we need. We need a stable plan of what the future has in store and goals that we can feasibly reach. Not a revolution that unravels all of the hard work that the Obama administration has accomplished. Clinton will carry on that success with steps and plans to get there.
Tensions reached a new high in the one-on-one debated in New Hampshire between Clinton and Sanders. Again, Sanders attacked Clinton on her ties to Wall Street and the millions of dollars in campaign contributions. Clinton does not it take it lightly this time.
“I think it’s time to end the very artful smear that you and your campaign have been carrying out in recent weeks and lets talk about the issues,” said Clinton in response to Sanders Wall Street claim.

And in the response you finally see her respond to the numerous of claims Sanders has been releasing for the last couple of weeks. I understand why the American people should be a little skeptical in the campaign contributions she has received, but I don’t think they have any political ties in her ideas and beliefs.
I picked up the Times Magazine yesterday and saw that Clinton was on the front page. The headline read: ‘I know what it’s like to be knocked down.’ And began to read the inside story. I was instantly hooked. Something she said really resonated with me on idealism and this campaign as a whole so far.
“Stay true to your values… but also don’t just hang on idealism at the expense of actually producing results that will improve people’s lives,” said Clinton in the sit down with Times.
Clinton is bringing to light the main issue I have with Sanders. His ideas are super far on the left and as he seems to claim every chance he gets: a socialist. They all sound great on paper and in theory, but no steps or plans to get there. The times that we are in right now don’t call for a type of revolution that Sanders is calling for. Clinton has a more stable plans that are reachable. They might not be outrageous and crazy, but steady incline for the future. Sanders want to unravel all of the hard work that this country has done.
Sanders road to the presidency will be tough and so will Clinton’s, but I think we can all agree either one of these two will be a far better choice than a Republican. It is going to be a tight race to the nomination. But I will be wearing a Hillary Clinton for President button until the race is over for her. Either that be at the end of the nomination or in that Oval Office in the end of 2016. Help Bill Clinton become the first Gentleman of the United States.
