Social Media Posts — HUF Skateboards

WHAT

The subject of my social media content is the skateboard brand/team “HUF”

WHY

This is of interest to me as I am interested in the skating culture/skating fashion. I also like the idea of being able to have a more casual/informal style of digital communication and I think that a skateboard brand is the perfect vessel with which to do that.

WHO

  • Skaters
  • People aged 15–25
  • People interested in skate culture

HOW

My content will vary a lot throughout the different social media channels. On twitter my content will be the most informal of all the platforms as I feel like twitter is the most easily memetic of all the sites. I have also included a hashtag where the consumer can tweet their responses to my tweet thread and engage with my idea.

My Facebook posts will be the most formal of them all and will in fact be the only ones that do not include photos. I have done this because I feel like Facebook is much more journalism/news related, and so instead of photos I have included links to external sites/articles relating to the company.

Finally, on instagram I have done an elimination style competition in which consumers like one of three photos of skateboard decks based on which one is their favourite, with the most liked one going on to be sold in stores. This encourages people to like my posts as they are getting engaged in a conversation which will obviously increase the engagement on my profile.

WHEN

When will you share your content? During the week or the weekend?

My twitter content will be shared throughout the day, as it almost tells a story of waking up in the morning and going about your day. It will also be shared specifically on the 8th of August, as this is national cat day, and that is the main driving force behind my posts.

My facebook content will be shared during the weekend as it includes multiple videos for the consumer to watch and I feel like they will have more time and more of a will to watch said videos at the weekend as they probably wouldn’t be at work and would just be relaxing. However they will be posted throughout the day gradually as part of a “series” that the page will be running.

Finally, my instagram content will be posted on a Wednesday, as the deadline for the competition is a Friday, which gives users enough time to vote on their favourite skate deck, but not too much time so that everyone has forgotten about it by the time its over.
