It’s really interesting to read about this from a design perspective, because the first thing that comes to mind when I see the cover art for ‘Reputation’ or ‘Life of Pablo’ is the queer/feminist zine aesthetic. This is likely influenced by my recent status as a college student, where that kind of art tends to thrive. Obviously, zinesters are almost always amateur artists and designers without much formal training. It’s fascinating how ‘official’ design templates and the radical aesthetic of zines have converged.
