I often wonder — how many product managers are out there screaming “this is not right!” as decision after decision is forced on them by people they can’t say “no” to; who are sometimes shy to tell the world they managed that product because of how shitty it is.

For every PM that’s afraid to say “no,” the expectation that PMs are abiding monkeys strengthens. Products can’t be effectively developed by consensus. With that said, “no” must also come from the team. Developers need to push on scope creep (openly, not just to the PM) and managers need to have the PM’s back on the vision.
