Mars’ newest facility in Northwest Arkansas puts the emphasis on collaboration
At Mars, conducting business is all about creating mutual benefits for our Associates, our customers and even our environment. Our Northwest Arkansas facility, opening today in Bentonville, brings that mission to life.
With more than 100 Associates working across multiple segments — including Mars Chocolate, Wrigley Americas, Mars Food and Mars Petcare — the expanded Bentonville facility will allow us to build upon our long-standing partnership with Walmart Inc
The new space celebrates Mars’ heritage and iconic brands, bringing customers and consumers closer to our organization and to the very heart of our decisions. And it marks just one more step forward in our mission to remain a Great Place to Work for our Associates as well as an employer of choice for potential recruits.
Generating an engaging office atmosphere
A productive workplace starts with happy Associates. That’s why when we set out to expand our presence in Northwest Arkansas, our first priority was creating a unique, engaging experience for our Associates. We wanted to create a space that encouraged collaboration and conversation. One of my favorite parts of the space is our Work Café, designed in partnership with Mars Drinks, where Associates across various Mars and Wrigley functions can come together both to catch up over a coffee as well as to brainstorm and informally exchange ideas. We’ll also have a dog park on site for Associates to bring their furry friends to work, a perk that we hope will reduce stress and encourage work life balance.
Creating a customer-centric atmosphere
Our customers are at the heart of what we do. This makes customer-centricity a top priority, so it’s key that we can be just as collaborative with customers as we are Associate to Associate. A collaborative working environment in this new location will inspire ongoing conversations about how Mars and our customers can grow our businesses together. The space encourages strategic, cross-functional processes and inspires teams to drive joint planning sessions in partnership with our key customers. It helps us build upon our pledge to be each customers’ supplier of choice.
Building a relationship with the surrounding community
If you’ve told me while I was growing up in the United Kingdom that I’d be living in Northwest Arkansas, I might not have believed you. But for the past three years, I have come to love the community and diversity here in Bentonville. Giving back to the communities in which we operate is one of the key pillars of Mars, and one I find particularly rewarding. This spring, Mars is continuing our strong our relationship with Bentonville by participating in the Bentonville Film Festival for the third consecutive year, an annual event to champion women and diversity in TV and film. Tracey Massey, President of Mars Chocolate North America, will even be attending the event, speaking about the importance of diversity and inclusion in business and entertainment.
Fulfilling our commitment to sustainability
Investing in our communities also means treating the environment right, so we can ensure continued economic success for years to come. Our new Arkansas building will be LEED gold certified, using natural light throughout the building to reduce energy use and will improve water efficiency, reducing indoor plumbing fixture water use by 30 percent. In keeping with our commitment to collaboration, we’re also working with our partners to set long-term sustainability goals.
Today’s office opening is a celebration for Mars’ customers, our Associates and the Northwest Arkansas community. With this new location, we couldn’t be more excited about the prospects of improved collaborations and partnerships between all three.
